Kea is part of that lovely circle of endearing islands in the Aegean Sea known as the Cyclades. The word kyklo in Greek actually means a circle. Kea is the closest Cyclades island to the Attika Peninsula where Athens lies. The ferry only takes an hour from the tip of the harbor town Lavrio to Kea's port of Korissia. You will hear Kea called by another name by the Greeks -- they say Tzia, pronounced Jah.
Kea is the climatic destination of this tour. It actually starts in Athens where your family with encounter awesome antiquities the youngsters willl never forget, particular that paragon of geometric design, the Acropolis. Before leaving the mainland, it is mandatory to visit the magnificent Temple of Poseidon in Sounion at the very tip of the Attika Peninsula. Apart from sun, fun and pedaling, there is an educational component to this trip with guided tours of antiquities which contributed to Greece's role as the cradle of Western Civilization.

Optimum Age. Kea For Kids is designed primarily for youngsters over 9 and under 15, although children outside this range can also enjoy the diverse physical activities. Additional mileage is available for parents or older siblings who want to start riding before or keep riding after the support vehicle transfers other riders.
Start/End Points
The tour starts in Athens on a Sunday morning with a with transfer from Airport to your Athens hotel. Tour ends in Kea with one hour ferry transfer from Kea to Lavrio and one hour vehcile transfer to Athens Airport.
Itinerary
Day 1: Athens
Welcome to Greece! Get adjusted to the time zone change. Acclimate to warmer temperatures. Adapt to signs written in funny letters like this Ακρόπολη which means Acropolis. Start eating new kinds of food. Embrace your Greece vacation!
Day 2: Athens
We introduce you to Athens with a comprehensive bike tour that takes you to special places often ignored by foreign visitors. You will see Socrates’ Cave where the philosopher was allegedly held awaiting trial and the Pynx where democracy was created.
Almost the entire three hour ride is in car-free zones.
Day 3: Sounion
Finally, today is your opportunity to visit the Acropolis by way of an enlightening three hour walking tour. (Actual walking time: 45 minutes). The tour starts at Syntagma Square, a/k/a Constitution Square where you witness the riveting spectacle of the changing of the guards. Afternoon coastal bike ride to the Temple of Poseidon.
Day 4: Kea
Morning swims before check-out from your seaside hotel with its irresistible view facing the Temple of Poseidon. We bike to the next town, Lavrio, the port where boats leave for Kea and other Cyclades islands. Lavrio harbor is lined with cafes and taverans, making the serene setting an ideal place for lunch.
Day 5: Kea
Put your bikes down and get in the kitchen! Today you will learn how to make traditional Greek dishes like stuffed tomatos or dolmades (rice wrapped in grape leaves), as well as unusual ones like spicy watermelon BBQ sauce! After a full meal, a good hike in the hills, starting on a cobbled path to the sculptured Lion of Kea, 600 BC.
Day 6: Kea
We bike to one of Kea’s alluring sandy beaches and spend the day idly, doing nothing besides pedaling and swimming and snorkeling and eating at the seaside tavernas.
Day 7: Kea
No better way to indulge in the Cyclades than to take a day long sailboat ride circumnavigating Kea whose perimeter is a mere 53 miles round. Your local based skipper will take you to hidden coves and deserted beaches. On your return to home port, Korissia, end your favorite vacation with dinner -- where else? – along the sea.
